Single Supervision and Cross-Border Banking

House of Finance, Goethe University, Frankfurt, March 14, 2016

On the 14th March 2016, the House of Finance, Goethe University, Frankfurt, hosted a Round Table on The Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM), the first pillar of the European Banking Union. On this occasion, the third issue of European Economy – Banks, Regulation, and the Real Sector was launched.

This issue examines the design of the SSM, the major issues concerning its implementation, and the main future challenges ahead, with a special focus on how far the SSM is an effective enabler of cross border banking and the single European banking market.
