The ECB’s Digital Euro and new operational framework: is there an overlap?

On 2nd June 2025, the Bruegel Institute hosted a roundtable on the ECB’s Digital Euro and its evolving operational framework. Panelists discussed the latest developments in both areas and highlighted the need to address their intersection—particularly the potential impact of a central bank digital currency on bank liquidity and the importance of a flexible monetary policy framework.

On this occasion, the 2023-2024 issue of European Economy – Banks Regulation and the Real Sector was presented.
